It has been stated by Sedona-Oak Creek Unified School District President Zach Richardson that the Sedona High School with a Rating of "A" is outperforming the Camp Verde High School with a rating of "C" and therefore "Cost per child" stats are not being compared properly. First of all please note that Camp Verde High School is NOT a "C" rated school, but a "B" rated school. In order to understand the statement, it is important that you see the ENTIRE picture instead of ratings that have been stated in Newspaper ads, in debate, discussion forums and small group presentations.

When reviewing the scores, NOTE the rating. Being an A or B rated
school may or may not be a wide spread based on the actual number.
Cottonwood and Mingus Union High School are shown for rating
comparisons only.
It is worthwhile to note the following important points when considering Camp Verde has
NEVER had a Budget Override. The differences between Camp Verde High School and
Sedona Red Rock High School is only 10 Points. The people have been led to believe by Mr.
Richardson that the Sedona High School's "A" rating is much better than Camp Verde High
School's "C" rating. (See Red Rock News Front Page Friday 10/4/13 and the statement made at
the OLLI Forum on 10/2/13.) As mentioned above Camp Verde High School is NOT a "C" rated
school, it is a high "B" rated school. The TOP end of the "A" rating is 200 points. Sedona
High School is only 4 points above the lowest rating number (140) in the "A" category, and
the Camp Verde High School is rated a "B", only 7 points BELOW the low end of the "A"
rating. The "C" ratings between Camp Verde Elementary and West Sedona Elementary are 4
points apart and are in the middle of the category. Big Park and Camp Verde Middle School
are both solid "B" rated schools.
The statement that the High Schools of both districts are far apart in ratings is false. It is
possible that Mr. Richardson, President of the district was not aware of the ratings. The
important thing to note, is that OUR tax dollars spent PER CHILD are in fact a balanced
representation of the results of both school districts.
The major difference is that the Sedona District requires an Override to achieve
almost identical results as a district that has NEVER had an Override.
The data can be verified through the State of Arizona Department of Education..
